The Epcot® International Flower & Garden Festival
Coordinated by the FNGLA Marketing Committee
Growing Future Gardeners is the theme of FNGLA’s revamped 2400+ square foot display garden, part of the Epcot 2006 International Flower & Garden Festival. The 2006 festival runs April 21 through June 11 and has an impressive expected attendance of 2 million consumers. FNGLA’s garden area is located in Future World near Innovations East.
The new interactive display will include a KidCot Fun Stop, take-home craft activities for children of all ages and innovative wildlife and sensory-centered displays including a grass-top picnic table, bean hut and living bamboo fort—just to name a few! The new display replaces FNGLA’s traditional Dooryard Gardens you may already be familiar with.
Growing Future Gardeners will feature Florida-grown plant material filled with unique activities for children and adults alike. Park guests will inevitably be inspired, remember plants as an everyday enjoyment and hopefully add more plants to their home interior and to their gardens.
In addition to the awe-inspiring changes, FNGLA members and certified professionals will take an interactive role assisting Disney cast members with plant-based children arts and craft activities and talking plants with both gardening enthusiasts as well as plant novices. FNGLA volunteers will be present Thursdays through Sundays during the seven-week festival. On weekends, Disney gardeners will trim the gardens while interacting with park guests.
Growing Future Gardeners will be on display at Epcot, near Innovations East, for seven weeks starting with the festival’s kick-off celebrations April 21. FNGLA has coordinated volunteers to assist park guests and help create gardening enthusiasm for each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the festival.

This partnership is designed to spark consumer interest in gardening. With more than 2 million consumers projected to venture through Epcot during the seven-week festival, FNGLA’s involvement lays a foundation for guests to create an emotional connection to plants whether it be through the actual plants themselves or through any of the variety of activities taking place within the FNGLA area. FNGLA’s involvement with the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is just one activity of many FNGLA participates in promoting Florida-grown plant items.
