Continuing a tradition begun in 1999, the Florida Nursery, Growers
and Landscape Association (FNGLA) has selected several outstanding
plants to feature for 2011.
The sole flowering tree
chosen is the gold medallion (Cassia leptophylla), a Brazilian,
semi-deciduous species with eye-catching clusters of yellow blossoms in
early summer and, often, again in autumn. This lacey-leaved tree,
drought-tolerant and hardy to the low 20s, requires sunny, well-drained
sites, where it grows up to 30 feet tall and 25 feet wide...
